Below is an overview of our program:
LANGUAGE ARTS
Spelling: Using an innovative approach to spelling, your child will learn the different spelling rules and exceptions, using a program that is designed for independent study and that easily engages the child.
Grammar: Third grade grammar covers material under the subjects of sentence structure, parts of speech, diagramming sentences, subject and verb compound subjects, run-on sentences, fragmented sentences, verb conjugations, and an introduction to basic writing skills.
Writing: Using a "Benjamin Franklin" approach to learning to write clearly and beautifully, we incorporate a program that makes learning to write enjoyable for the child and parent.
Reading: The third grade package includes a selection of Kinza's mostly classic literature to read to your child or for independent reading depending on your child’s reading level. The program also includes a book of poetry, which is an excellent approach to developing eloquence and improving memory skills.
Penmanship: An Italics penmanship workbook that focuses on cursive writing, and improving the Italic style. We include our Content of Character Copybook, the first in our curriculum series.
MATH

HISTORY & GEOGRAPHY
Your child will learn about the late-Renaissance and early modern history periods including early American settlements, the Enlightenment, Native American cultures, the French Revolution, the American Revolution, Napoleon, the California gold rush, and more. There will also be coloring maps of important geographical areas during the late-Renaissance and early modern history period for the student to color, In addition, we have creative projects to complete, which will give the students a better understanding of the world during these times.
SCIENCE

FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Latin: Though considered a “dead” language, Latin is still the key to the vocabulary and structure of all the romance languages and the technical vocabulary of all the sciences including law and medicine. In advanced studies of the classics, an understanding of Latin will prove invaluable in both ancient history and the study of classic literature.
ART
The student will learn to draw from chapter titles such as: The United States, From Sea to Sea, Moving Forward, Animals & Habitats on Land, Ponds and Rivers, and Oceans. The course emphasizes the similarity between drawing and writing.
