Sixth Grade Islamic Studies

By sixth grade the student has entered the age where he should be learning the obligatory Islamic sciences. We recommend finding a teacher to instruct him correctly in his deen. We would expect the student to be memorizing Quran directly from the Quran, and do not recommend workbooks for this grade. We have not found an Arabic language program that we feel meets all of the criteria of teaching a child using traditional means and methods, so we cannot recommend any particular course. We are working on publishing our own Arabic language program, insh Allah.

For sixth grade, we recommend memorizing Quran, studying the Arabic language, listening to the Purification of the Heart CD set by Hamza Yusuf, reading the Purification of the Heart book by Hamza Yusuf, teaching the main diseases of the heart to your child and memorizing and writing the hadith in the Content of Character Copybook, published by Kinza Academy & Press.

We are working on our own Islamic curriculum, and insh Allah will be able to offer more books for this grade level in the future.
