PRESCHOOL

The complete Kinza Preschool Package is available.

Islamic educational philosophy encourages the idea of postponing formal education until a child has reached the age of seven, or until the child is developmentally ready. Instead, we are instructed to let our children play. You may click here to read an interesting article about teaching children to read before they have reached the "reading readiness" age. Also, please visit our bookstore for more information about the concerns of beginning formal education too early.

With this in mind, our preschool program contains a selection of classic books for young children written by some of the great children’s authors such as Beatrix Potter, A.A. Milne, Robert Louis Stevenson, and others. Many of these classic books are bound in beautiful hardback editions to be passed on from child to child and perhaps even generation to generation. Reading is the key that unlocks the door to knowledge, and our primary concern should be to raise our children in environments that support this end. Children that are read beautifully written stories, and surrounded with excellent books cannot help but grow up to become avid readers.

By reading books of excellent quality to your children during the early years you will be helping them develop critical skills, including building vocabulary, learning to speak eloquently, listening skills, and development of the imagination, which is a crucial building block for the ability to think in higher thought forms as an adult. With the Kinza selection of mostly classic literature, the children will also learn important lessons to help them build character, from courage and fortitude to honesty and integrity, all of which are perennial themes in these classic works of children’s literature. Included with the Western classics are books on art and science experiments that can be used informally to enhance your own natural role as teacher to your children.

The preschool program is ideal for ages two to six. This is primarily a reading progam and does not come with lesson plans. It is ideal to read to children about an hour a day and let them engage in plenty of unstructured play. The curriculum is not published, so please feel free to call our office if you require more information about the specific books. The program may be purchased at any time during the school year and the books may continue to be read as the children grow older.
