DEVELOPING IMAGINATION

By reading books of excellent quality to your children during the kindergarten years you will be indirectly helping them develop critical skills, including beginning familiarity with English grammar and vocabulary, listening skills, and development of the imagination.  Through these books the child will also learn important lessons to help them build character, from courage and fortitude to honesty and integrity, all of which are perennial themes in these classic works of children's literature. It is ideal to read to children about an hour a day and let them engage in plenty of unstructured play. The kindergarten program does not come with lesson plans.

ISLAMIC EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Islamic educational philosophy, supported by current Western research, encourages the idea of postponing formal education until a child has reached the age of seven, or until the child is developmentally ready. Instead, we are instructed to let our children play. You may click here to read an article about teaching children to read before they have reached the "reading readiness" age. Also, please visit our bookstore for more information about the concerns of beginning formal education too early.

BOOKS OF QUALITY

By reading books of excellent quality to your children during the early years you will be helping them develop critical skills, including building vocabulary, learning to speak eloquently, listening skills, and development of the imagination, which is a crucial building block for the ability to think in higher thought forms as an adult. With the Kinza selection of mostly classic literature, the children will also learn important lessons to help them build character, from courage and fortitude to honesty and integrity, all of which are perennial themes in these classic works of children’s literature. Included with the Western classics are books on art and science experiments that can be used informally to enhance your own natural role as teacher to your children.

AGE OF THE KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

For parents who choose to introduce formal teaching before first grade, we include a phonics book, Italic handwriting book, and a math project book. The kindergarten package has all of the material necessary to prepare your child for the first grade.

The program may be purchased at any time during the school year and may continue to be read as the children get older.
