KINDERGARTEN
DEVELOPING IMAGINATION By reading books of excellent quality to your children during the kindergarten years you will be indirectly helping them develop critical skills, including beginning familiarity with English grammar and vocabulary, listening skills, and development of the imagination. Through these books the child will also learn important lessons to help them build character, from courage and fortitude to honesty and integrity, all of which are perennial themes in these classic works of children's literature. It is ideal to read to children about an hour a day and let them engage in plenty of unstructured play. The kindergarten program does not come with lesson plans. Instead, we are instructed to let our children play. You may click here to read an article about teaching children to read before they have reached the "reading readiness" age. Also, please visit our bookstore for more information about the concerns of beginning formal education too early.
