Fifth Grade Islamic Studies

By fifth grade the student is entering the age where he should begin learning the obligatory Islamic sciences. We recommend finding a teacher to instruct him correctly in his deen. We would expect the student to be memorizing Quran directly from the Quran, and do not recommend workbooks for this grade. We have not found an Arabic language program that we feel meets all of the criteria of teaching a child using traditional means and methods, so we cannot recommend any particular course. We are working on publishing our own Arabic language program, insh Allah.

For fifth grade, we recommend memorizing Quran, studying the Arabic language, and listening to the Life of the Prophet CD set by Hamza Yusuf with your child. It is important to continue instilling a love of our Prophet, peace be upon him in the children's hearts. It is recommended to listen to this set once a year. We also recommend the Content of Character Copybook, published by Kinza Academy & Press.

We are working on our own Islamic curriculum, and insh Allah will be able to offer more books for this grade level in the future.
